The China Charity Federation and the Chinese Society of
Education jointly launched a charity event in Beijing on Sunday,
drawing many people to lend their helping hands.
The amassed handprints of
hundreds of AIDS affected orphans was sold at the high price of 200
thousand yuan during the auction in the charity event held on
Sunday, September 2, 2007.
As one of the series of activities organized by the AIDS
Prevention Education Project for Chinese Youth, or APEPCY for
short, the event aims at collecting funds and raising public
awareness.
The APEPCY, with a mission of raising 100 million yuan in five
years, was launched in December 23, 2006. The funds will be used to
carry out special educational activities for AIDS prevention at
10,000 universities and colleges, vocational schools and secondary
schools.
In the charity event, held
on Sunday, September 2, 2007, several AIDS affected orphans sang
together to give their thanks to the people who have helped
them.
