The first Hungarian child to receive a heart transplant died on Tuesday morning in a camp near Balaton, the Hungarian News Agency MTI reported.
Balazs Lorincz was seven years old when he received his new heart last October. He was the first Hungarian child to undergo a heart transplant.
Doctors said at a press conference that the child's sickness did not show any signs, and he got help from doctors in time, but doctors could not save his life. Doctors said a sudden disorder of heart rhythm was the probable cause of his death.
Laszlo Ablonczy, doctor from Hungarian Cardiological Institute, said heart transplant program would not stop, because it would be the only chance to live for many children.
Since the first Hungarian child to receive a heart transplant, a baby girl also got a new heart, and she is very well, Laszlo Ablonczy said.
