Taiwan reports 13 A/H1N1 flu cases as of Monday

Taiwan has confirmed a new A/H1N1 flu case, bringing the total cases on the island to 13, the local disease control authorities said Monday.

The latest case involved an 8-year-old Canadian girl of Asian nationality. She arrived in Taipei on Sunday and was confirmed to have been infected with the flu on Sunday evening.

No further information about the case is available at this time.

The twelfth case involved 33-year-old male who arrived in the island on May 27 from New York. The man developed symptoms of fever and coughing on the plane.

As the man was in the first class seat there were no passengers who had close contact with him. But he went to a film in the evening he arrived in Taipei.

Local disease control authorities said Sunday that they were investigating people who might have had close contact with the patient.
