Nine new flu A/H1N1 cases have been reported in India, four each from Bangalore and Delhi and one from Punjab, bringing the country's tally to 89, local media reported Sunday.

At least 645 people have been tested so far, and 89 of them were positive for influenza A/H1N1. Of the 89 patients, 59 have been discharged while the rest of them are still receiving treatment in hospital, according to the report quoting Health Ministry official.

A family of four, traveled from the United States, via Germany, reached Bangalore on Friday by a Lufthansa flight and were quarantined at the airport.

They were transferred to hospital and all of them have tested positive, according to the report.

The case from Gurdaspur in Punjab is an indigenous case, which is a contact of a previous positive case on Monday.

The four cases reported from Delhi include a nine-year-old child who traveled from Seattle, the United States, via Seoul and arrived in Delhi on Thursday. The other three arrived here from the United States on Monday.
