Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Seychelles' counterpart
James Michel on Friday exchanged congratulatory messages on the
30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between
the two countries.
In his message, Hu said the China-Seychelles friendly
cooperative relationship has witnessed a steady development since
the two countries established diplomatic relations 30 years ago,
with great achievements recorded ever since in political, economic,
trade and cultural cooperation between the two sides.
China and Seychelles have supported each other and coordinated
closely in dealing with international and regional affairs, Hu
said.
The Chinese government appreciates Seychelles for its upholding
the one-China policy and its support for China's reunification
cause, Hu said.
With the 30th anniversary as a new starting point, China would
like to further increase high-level exchanges and strengthen
cooperation in various fields with Seychelles, in a bid to jointly
push for a continuous development of the friendly cooperative
relationship featuring sincerity, equality and trust, Hu added.
For his part, Michel said in his message that it would be
impossible for Seychelles to have achieved its current
accomplishments in economy and social development if without
China's support for many years as a steadfast cooperation
partner.
On behalf of Seychelles' government and people, Michel expressed
his appreciation for China's support and assistance, hoping that
the existing friendly cooperative relationship between China and
Seychelles would forge ahead for the well-being of the two
peoples.
Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and his Seychelles'
counterpart Patrick Pillay also exchanged congratulatory messages
on the same day.
