Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba on Wednesday said that
his country hopes to carry out pragmatic cooperation with China in
all fields, reports from Windhoek said.
During a meeting with a delegation of the Communist Party of
China (CPC), headed by Ma Wenpu, deputy head of the International
Department of the CPC Central Committee, the president stressed the
need for more win-win cooperation to benefit both the Namibian and
Chinese people.
Pohamba said that the Chinese delegation's visit will further
consolidate the friendly ties between the two countries and between
the ruling South West Africa People's Organization and the CPC.
Ma, speaking highly of the friendship between the two countries
and the two parties, expressed his appreciation for Namibia's
constant support for China on such major issues as Taiwan and human
rights.
China is ready to raise the Sino-Namibian cooperation to a new
level, said the Chinese official.
The CPC delegation arrived in Windhoek early Wednesday for a
two-day visit, which is part of the team's four-nation Africa trip
to Liberia, Cape Verde, Namibia and Sierra Leone.
