Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National
People's Congress, met in Beijing Wednesday with Eduardo Frei
Ruiz-Tagle, president of Chilean Senate.
Wu recalled his visit to Chile earlier this month, saying the
declaration by the two countries to implement the free trade
agreement and to initiate service and investment trade negotiations
would have a positive impact on the two economies.
"We are satisfied with the current Sino-Chilean relations, and
are confident of furthering the relationship in the long run," Wu
said.
He said the NPC would make use of the political dialogue
committee to enhance legislative cooperation with the Chilean
parliament, as well as promote friendship between the two
peoples.
Frei said the Chilean parliament would like to promote friendly
contact with the NPC. He reaffirmed that Chile adheres to one-China
policy.
