State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met with visiting Thai Privy Councilor Siddhi Savetsila in Beijing Tuesday.

Tang spoke highly of Siddhi's long-term contribution to boosting ties with China.

He said China-Thailand relations, which have stood the test of time and history, are evolving in a stable way and have become a model for relations between China and neighboring countries.

He said he hopes that the two countries can deepen strategic cooperative relations through further exchanges and cooperation in culture, education, science, technology and security.

Tang said he believed Thailand would maintain peace and make new achievements in nation building.

Siddhi briefed Tang on the political situation in Thailand. He said Thailand's foreign policy will not change and nor will the friendship between Thailand and China.

He said he will continue to contribute to promoting bilateral ties.

Siddhi served as Thai deputy prime minister and foreign minister in the 1980s.
