Senior legislators from China and Russia pledged in Moscow on
Thursday to enhance cooperation in a bid to further bilateral
ties.
Uyunqimg, vice-chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the
National People's Congress (NPC), voiced the appeal when met with
her Russia colleagues, including Chairman Boris Gryzlov of the
State Duma, lower house of the parliament.
She hailed the inter-parliament cooperation and exchange of
visits by young legislators, saying the NPC will strive to
implement consensus reached by the two heads of states and ensure a
successful "Year of China" in Russia in 2007.
Gryzlov agreed on the remarks, noting Russia-China ties is
experiencing the best period and he expects the two parliaments to
expand cooperation and promote bilateral ties to a news height.
Uyunqimg is heading a group of young Chinese legislators for a
Russia tour, and then another NPC delegation to visit Slovakia.
She is paying the visit at the invitation of Russia's State Duma
and Slovakia's National Council.
President Hu Jintao and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin
have agreed to host national theme years in each country to enhance
the China-Russia strategic partnership of cooperation. The "Year of
Russia" in China witnessed success in 2006.
