China and the United States should view bilateral relations from
a strategic and long-term perspective, and focus on common
interests to ensure the development of constructive and cooperative
ties, said China's top legislator Wu Bangguo on Tuesday.
He was speaking in a meeting with congressmen Rick Larsen and
Mark Kirk, co-chairmen of the US-China working group of the US
House of Representatives.
Wu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's
Congress(NPC), said the two countries enjoyed sound relations,
deepening cooperation in politics, trade, fighting terrorism and
non-proliferation.
He said the NPC wanted to promote dialogue with the US
legislature through the regular exchange mechanism.
The two US lawmakers said more US Congress members were
advocating improved relations with China, and the US-China working
group would help them learn more about China.
