Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet Jeria in Beijing on Sunday, eyeing more progress to be made in cooperation between the two countries.
In his meeting with Bachelet, Wen said the comprehensive cooperative partnership between China and Chile has maintained a good momentum, especially in the fields of trade and economy.
He called on the two sides to make full use of favorable conditions brought by bilateral free trade agreement and achieve more progress in traditional cooperation areas such as mining, agriculture with a view to attaining better mutual beneficial and win-win result.
Bachelet said China has made tremendous achievements over past 30 years since reform and opening up, noting that great progress has been scored in bilateral ties since the two countries established diplomatic relations 38 years ago.
China and Chile should cement strategic cooperation, promote exchanges in economy and trade to lift the bilateral ties to a new level, Bachelet said.
Bachelet arrived in Sanya on Friday to start her first state visit to China. She has just attended this year's annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) held in Sanya City and met with Chinese President Hu Jintao.
Bachelet is scheduled to leave Beijing for Shanghai on Monday.
