Adjust font size:

Chinese President Hu Jintao will pay a state visit to Japan from May 6 to 10, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu announced Tuesday at a regular press conference.

Hu's visit will be the first by a Chinese president to Japan over the past decade.

During Hu's visit, he is expected to meet with Emperor Akihito and hold talks with Prime Minister Fukuda Yasuo, Jiang said.

"President Hu will have broad contact with the Japanese parliament, parties and peoples from all circles to discuss how to promote Sino-Japanese relations and other issues of common concern," Jiang said.
