China seeks to glorify Olympic spirit through the Games
Adjust font size:

The people of China seek to glorify the Olympic spirit of peace, solidarity and friendship through the Beijing Games, visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao said in Tokyo on Thursday.

Hosting a successful Olympics is the sincere wish of all Chinese, Hu said in his speech at Tokyo's Waseda University.

It is also the wish of the Chinese people to enhance understanding and friendship among people of different countries through the Games in August, he added.

That is why China has chosen "One World, One Dream" as the theme slogan for the 2008 Olympic Games, Hu explained.

In his speech, President Hu expressed hope that the people of China and Japan would work together to revitalize Asia as well as promote world peace and development, thus opening up brighter prospects for bilateral and global ties.

Hu's five-day trip to Japan began Tuesday, marking the first visit by a Chinese head of state to the country in a decade.
