Singaporean PM visits northwest Chinese province

The Secretary of the CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee Zhao Leji and the Province Governor Yuan Chunqing met in Xi'an on Sunday with visiting Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

During the talk with Lee, Zhao said that Shaanxi province has along history, and its capital city, Xi'an, used to be the capital of 13 dynasties in Chinese history.

Zhao also highlighted the rich energy resources in the province, expressing his hope to enhance the economic and trade relations between the two sides.

Lee, with an apparent interest in the local cultural and tourist sectors, called on the two sides to expand cooperation in such fields.

After attending the seventh summit of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), Lee arrived in Xi'an on Saturday.

He visited Terracotta museum of Qin dynasty and is scheduled to fly to Shanghai on Monday to continue his China visit.
