Israeli F-16 war jets carried out two separate airstrikes on the borderline between southern Gaza Strip and Egypt, no injuries were reported, Palestinian witnesses said.
The witnesses said that Israeli warplanes carried out two separate airstrikes on the borderline area between southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah and Egypt, adding that two successive explosions wrecked the Rafah area.
They added that the airstrikes targeted the borderline, where there are dozens of underground tunnels the Palestinians are using to smuggle goods and fuels from Egypt into Gaza Strip.
Israel has been imposing a tight blockade on Gaza Strip for almost two years. The blockade was tightened after Islamic Hamas movement took control of the strip in June 2007.
The Israeli airstrikes on Rafah runnels area came after Gaza militants launched earlier on Wednesday morning two makeshift rockets from Gaza Strip at southern Israel. No injuries or damages were reported.
Israel has carried out a 22-day military offensive on Gaza Strip, which ended on January 18. According to official estimations, more than 1,300 Palestinians were killed and thousands of houses and buildings destroyed.
During the Israeli offensive, the Israeli army had destroyed more than 40 percent of the underground tunnels. However, as Israel hasn't lift the blockade, Palestinians repaired destroyed tunnels and re-operated them.
