Uruguay received on Wednesday a donation from China of medical equipment with a value of 2.5 million U.S. dollars, which was within the framework of a bilateral agreement on cooperation, the Planning and Budget Office (OPP) said.
Enrique Rubio, Director of the OPP said that both countries have maintained strong cooperation since 1988. It is expected to be deepened by the coming official visit of Uruguayan President Tabare Vazquez to China.
Chen Sudong, Economics-Commercial Counselor from the Chinese Embassy, said that China values the bilateral cooperation and expects Vazquez' visit to Beijing to strength the ties.
China's donations include 1,000 beds, 300 oxygen compressors, wheel chairs and surgery material.
