US Capitol's visitor center was evacuated briefly on Monday afternoon after a suspicious package was found at the visitor center's entrance.
An unattended bag was reported found at approximately 3:30 p.m. EDT, said Capitol police in a news release, adding "out of an abundance of caution," the police evacuated the visitor center and closed the surrounding area and streets.
There is "nothing of a hazardous nature" was found in the bag, said the police. The closure was removed at about 5:50 p.m..
