China hopes to push for positive and substantial progress from the upcoming G20 meeting set for Sept. 24 to 25 in Pittsburgh, the United States.

"We expect the summit to achieve concrete progress in promoting world economic recovery, settling the problem of imbalance development, speeding up the reform of international financial institutions and fighting against trade protectionism," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu told a regular press briefing on Thursday.

China is in close contact with parties involved on topics and arrangements of the summit, she added.

The G20 includes the Group of Eight -- the United States, Germany, Japan, France, Italy, Britain, Canada and Russia.

Other members are the European Union, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, the Republic of Korea and Turkey.
