An earthquake measuring 6.2 in magnitude hit Georgia early Tuesday morning, according to a report by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). No casualties were reported.
The USGS posted on its website that the tremor occurred at 3:41 a.m. local time (2241 GMT), with its epicenter some 95 miles (155 km) northwest of the Georgian capital. It had a depth of 10 km.
There was no immediate report of injuries or damage caused by the huge quake.
Other reports said the epicenter was 70 km north of Kutaisi, in the Oni region. Kutaisi is 236 km west of Tbilisi.
The quake can be felt as far away as Tbilisi and some people here at the center of the city felt the tremor. But there was no damage to the capital.
