Mexican police arrested two brothers in the resort city of Acapulco on Friday for alleged drug smuggling, illegal gun ownership and other crimes, the Attorney General's Office (PGR) said.
Police arrested Jesus and Alberto Rodriguez Espinosa after they found 9-millimeter pistols, bullets and 109 grams of cocaine in their car during a routine check. Police also suspected the brothers have links with the Gulf Cartel, a drug trafficking group.
The two men reportedly confessed to have taken part in the June 6 attacks on soldiers and police in the city.
The Gulf Cartel is best known for its armed wing, the Zetas, which used to be elite Mexican army troops but later defected to drug smugglers.
