Adjust font size:

Colombian National Police seized 11.2 million U.S. dollars cash on Friday inside four containers coming from Mexico at Buenaventura port in western Colombia.

National Police sub-director Colonel Rafael Parra said another 11.2 million dollars cash was also seized on Wednesday in the same port.

Parra said the dollars seized on Wednesday were hidden inside ammonium sulphate load, which arrived at the port from the Mexican port of Manzanillo.

Colombian authorities said the seizure of a total of 22.4 million dollars in a week was historic, adding that it was a strong punch against the drug traffickers in Mexico and Colombia.

The load was addressed to companies with facilities in the Colombian cities of Bogota and Cali, Parra said.

The National Police said it would use the seized dollars to build houses for anti-drug agents in the country.
