Pakistan has strongly denied Indian allegations of firing rockets on Indian limits through Wagha border, terming those accusations as baseless, local TV channels reported Saturday.
The allegations, from India and refusal from Pakistan side, came during the emergency meeting of the Pakistan Rangers and the Indian Border Security Force (BSF), following reports of three explosions in Indian administrated village Lakhan bordering Pakistan.
Three explosions were heard late on Friday from the Indian side of the border at Wagha, a private TV channel reported. Sources in the Rangers said two of the explosions were of high and the third of a lower intensity, but said they could not ascertain the reason or type of the explosions.
According to sources, India, during the two sides' security forces meeting, lodged strong protest with Pakistan, saying that three rockets were fired from Pakistan but officials from Pakistan Rangers denied Indian allegations, saying that India has failed to produce concrete evidences.
Tension mounted between the Pakistan Rangers and the BSF after the explosions and the Rangers have beefed up security along the border following the blasts.
Rangers spokesman Nadeem Raza told local newspaper Dawn that people of a border village heard powerful explosions from the Indian side at around 10:30 p.m. and the force's officials were alerted.
Rangers' high-ups, who took notice of the incident, are busy in an important meeting and the BSF high command has also been contacted for getting details of the incident, said the spokesman.
