Pakistan has fired three rockets that fell on the Indian territory near the international border at Wagah in the northern state of Punjab late Friday night, prompting an immediate retaliatory fire from India's border guards, a senior Indian Home Ministry official said Saturday.

"The three rockets were fired at 11 p.m. Friday. But there are no reports of any casualty on the Indian side. Senior Border Security Force officials, including the Inspector General Himmat Singh, are camping in the international border area to prevent any further untoward incident," the official said, on condition of anonymity.

Meanwhile, another Indian official, I.G.Singh, told media Friday in Amritsar that immediately after the rockets landed in an open area at villages Modhey and Dhoneya Khurd, Border Security Force (BSF) got in touch with their Pakistani counterparts for a flag meeting "where India would lodge a strong protest against the action."

The Home Ministry official confirmed that the flag meeting between Pakistan Rangers and BSF has already taken place Saturday morning in which officers from BSF and Pakistani Rangers attended.
