Six civilians were killed as a roadside bomb struck their car in Taliban former stronghold Kandahar of southern Afghanistan, a press release issued by provincial administration Saturday said.
"A roadside bomb struck civilian vehicle in Maiwand district on Friday killing six innocent civilians and wounding two other children," the press release added.
It did not give more details.
Taliban insurgents fighting Afghan security forces have often plant mines on roads which in many cases claim lives of civilians.
