Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama is expected to pay a one-day visit to South Korea on Oct. 9, Yonhap News Agency quoted an official as saying on Sunday.
Hatoyama will visit Seoul on Oct. 9 to meet with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, then will travel to China for an upcoming three-way summit between South Korea, Japan and China, the official said on condition of anonymity.
During his visit to Seoul, the two leaders will discuss a series of issues such as bilateral relations, the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, the upcoming G20 summit in Seoul, climate change and green growth. They also will touch upon Lee's invitation to Japanese Emperor Akihito to visit Seoul next year.
It will be the second summit between Lee and Hatoyama. They held their first summit earlier this week on the sidelines of the Group of 20 economic summit in Pittsburgh, the United States.
