Liu Yunshan, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said in Beijing on Monday that the Chinese party, government and people respect the Nepalese people's choice of social system and development road in accordance with the situation of the country.
Liu, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks in a meeting with Bharat Mohan Adhikari, Standing Committee member of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist and Leninist) (CPN-UML).
He congratulated on the successful holding of Nepal's Constituent Assembly election and stable transition of political system.
Hailing the time-tested friendship between China and Nepal, Liu said China-Nepal relationship is a "model of friendly coexistence between neighbors".
He said the CPC and Chinese government appreciate the Nepalese government and political parties' consistent position that both Tibet and Taiwan are inalienable parts of the Chinese territory and are grateful to Nepal's correct stance and effective measures in handling the issues concerning China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Liu also briefed the Nepalese guests on China's relief efforts after the May 12 massive earthquake in Sichuan Province and the country's preparations for the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games.
Adhikari said the CPN-UML will continue to give firm support to China on the Tibet issue and believes that the Beijing Olympics will be a complete success.
He added that the CPN-UML is ready to further enhance relations with the CPC and promote the development of relations between the two countries through party-to-party exchanges.
