A senior official from the Bureau of International Expositions
(BIE) voiced in Shanghai Wednesday his satisfaction toward the
current preparation for the 2010 World Exposition.
"I'm fairly satisfied with the current preparation, but more
difficulties are expected to emerge in the following work, said BIE
Secretary-General Vicente Loscertales after wrapping up his
three-day visit in Shanghai.
Loscertales got to know the progress of the relevant preparatory
work done by the Shanghai municipal government so far during his
inspection.
He also suggested Shanghai International Expo Bureau should send
invitations as soon as possible to participants around the world
and provide them with the best service.
Loscertales said the BIE will support and guide the organizers
to prepare for the remaining work of the 2010 World Expo.
From 2006, the construction of infrastructure and other major
exposition grounds will kick off. The secretary-general expressed
satisfaction to the construction layout.
Shanghai has committed in the Registration Report of 2010 World
Expo that Shanghai will attract more than 200 countries and
international organizations to take part in the Expo. Loscertales
said it was an "ambitious plan."
"Many countries are looking forward to being invited, and the
BIE will make utmost efforts to help the Chinese government with
the relevant invitation and solicitation work," Loscertales
said.
