Shanghai-based Fudan University is to award scholarships to
foreign students beginning this year, the university announced on
Monday.
According to Yang Zengguo, deputy director of the university's
foreign students affairs office, all foreign undergraduate and
postgraduate students can apply for the scholarships.
The scholarships will be awarded based on the applicant's marks
and academic research achievements, Yang said, adding that the
school is hoping to attract foreign students who study majors other
than language.
Of the 584 foreign undergraduates enrolled by the university
this year, 14 will receive the scholarship which includes free of
tuition with a value of between 23,000 to 26,000 yuan (anywhere
from US$2,870 to 3,250).
Ten foreign postgraduates will be granted scholarships that
