Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on Tuesday met in Beijing with a Latin American media delegation.

Hailing China-Latin American ties and cooperation in various fields, Yang said China has always regarded Latin America as a good partner and friend.

It is in the fundamental interests of the people in China and Latin America to further the friendly ties, Yang said.

China would like to make joint efforts with Latin America to promote the friendly and mutually-beneficial cooperation.

Yang also answered reporters' questions on China's peaceful development and the economic and trade cooperation between China and Latin America.

The members of the delegation said this visit offered Latin American media a good opportunity to learn more about China. They would like to play positive roles in enhancing the understanding between the people in Latin America and China and help promote the cooperation.

The delegation was made up of senior professionals of eight news organizations from six Latin American countries.

After their visit in Beijing, they will also tour Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, East China's Jiangsu Province and Shanghai, China's economic hub.
