Chinese and Southeast Asian officials and experts attended a
seminar in Nanning on Thursday to discuss energy technology
exchanges and cooperation in rural areas.
This is the first seminar of this kind since China and the
Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) signed a memorandum
of understanding on agricultural cooperation in November 2002.
Chinese and ASEAN participants to the seminar exchanged
experiences in developing energy technologies in rural areas.
More than 10 Chinese manufacturers attended the seminar and
exhibited their technological products such as methane
equipment.
Chinese and ASEAN leaders listed agriculture as one of the
cooperation priorities at their fifth summit in November 2001.
According to the memorandum of understanding signed a year later,
energy technology exchanges in rural areas form a key part of the
bilateral agricultural cooperation.
The seminar was held on the sidelines of the commemorative
summit marking the 15th anniversary of the dialogue partnership
between China and the ASEAN, which was held on Monday.
