Mongolia to Open Consulate in Macao over Human Trafficking
Adjust font size:

The Republic of Mongolia will soon open an honorary consulate in China's Macao Special Administrative Region to handle human trafficking issue, local media reported Monday.

The Macao Post Daily reported that Macao appears to be the final destination for human trafficking from Mongolia, a country with a population of some 2.8 million.

It is believed that over 1,000 Mongolians have been taken to Macao illegally, according to the newspaper.

The number of registered Mongolian nationals in Macao stood at 95 at the end of 2005, according to official statistics.
