Chinese and Canadian officials signed an agreement in Beijing on
Tuesday to strengthen scientific cooperation in the field of
energy, biotechnology, health, environment and agriculture.
The agreement was signed by Xu Guanhua, China's minister of
science and Canadian International Trade Minister David
Emerson.
Emerson said Canada will invest 5.25 million Canadian dollars
(about US$4.65 million) to support bilateral scientific
cooperation.
The two countries will also promote dialogue and cooperation in
the field of intellectual property rights protection, according to
the agreement.
