Media ties with ASEAN improve
Adjust font size:

China and ASEAN countries on Friday agreed to establish a China-ASEAN Media Cooperation Liaison Network.

The Third China-ASEAN Media Cooperation Seminar was attended by politicians and media from China and ASEAN countries. It was held in Nanning, capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

With the theme "Jointly build a harmonious and prosperous home," participants agreed to promote media exchanges and expand media coverage.

"Strengthening media cooperation between China and ASEAN countries is of great importance not only to promoting ties between China and ASEAN, but also to developing healthy relationships generally," Qian Xiaoqian, deputy director of the State Council Information Office, said.

Qian invited ASEAN journalists to come to China and report on the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and the Shanghai Expo in 2010.

China Daily Editor-in-Chief Zhu Ling gave a speech saying media from both sides should improve two-way communication, do more first-hand interviews and construct a 10+1 news exchange network.

Zhu also informed delegates about the birth and development of China Daily.
