Discussion on the theoretical research on oral interpretation

Beginning in the middle period of twentith century, those European scholars have made great remarks in the theoretical research on oral interpretation and major theoretical academic viewpoints have shown their edge. Nowadays, oral interpretation as a branch of translation has gradually gained its own theoretical system. This thesis summerizes invovled oral interpretation development since 1950’s and discusses the main academic thoughts and representative ideas. It describes the process from decoding, information transfering to speech output and tries to explore the inner mutual effects between elements in the oral interpretation process. The purpose is to annotate the common pattern of oral interpretation, appoint its theoretical frame structure and major field. Meanwhile the thesis diagnoses explanation of the whole system, capacity of description and its practical direction. Based on the latest research results, the thesis tells the content of the theoretical research on oral interpretation, its scope, mode and model from which it can be seen that the major problems that the new subject is facing. Also it discusses the oncoming effective elements on the theoretical research on oral interpretation and the profession by which we can find the developing trend of the subject.
