CPPCC chairman meets Thai parliamentary leader

Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC), met in Beijing on Saturday with Thai Senate president Prasobsook Boondech.

Jia said China and Thailand are good neighbors, and their strategic cooperation has deepened in recent years with pragmatic exchanges and cooperation in all areas fruitful.

"China attaches great importance to relations with Thailand. Enhancing good neighborly friendship and cooperation of mutual benefits with Thailand is the established policy of the Chinese Government," he said.

He said China would like to make joint efforts with Thailand to further expand and deepen strategic cooperation to benefit people of the two countries.

He thanked Thai leaders for extending sympathy over the May 12 earthquake in China and providing support. He also briefed Boondech on relief and reconstruction efforts in the quake areas.

Jia said the the CPPCC would like to expand and deepen exchanges and cooperation with the Thai Senate and learn from each other to contribute more to the development of their countries.

Prasobsook said Thailand attaches importance to relations with China, and thanked China for its support in international affairs.

Prasobsook attended the fifth Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP) in Beijing, which concluded on Friday.
