Romania is to make the best use of the multitude of EU-China
cooperation mechanisms to enhance its partnership with China, a
senior Romanian diplomat said on Thursday.
Romania's accession to the EU has created opportunities for
dynamic development of Romanian-Chinese cooperation, Anton
Niculescu, State Secretary of the Romanian Foreign Ministry, said
in a written interview with Xinhua.
The opportunities should be evaluated within the framework of
EU-China relations to explore the full potential of the economic
cooperation between the two countries, he said.
"The bilateral relations are indeed built upon a traditional and
special friendship. We are very pleased to note that our relations
have been constantly set on a positive course over the last 58
years of diplomatic dialogue," he said.
The state secretary, who is to visit Beijing later this year,
said that the visit will be part of the regular political dialogue
and stands as proof of the collaboration between the two Ministries
of Foreign Affairs.
"One important objective is to identify new ways of making the
best use of the EU-China multiple mechanisms of cooperation in
order to deepen and further enhance the bilateral relationship,"
Niculescu said.
He appealed for increased efficiency in dialogue in various
sectors, especially the economic, commercial and investment
fields.
"I find it essential that both sides must engage with
determination and pragmatism in the process of identifying new ways
to balance trade exchanges," he said.
