China, the host of the six-party talks on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, released a Chairman's Statement yesterday at the end of the first session of the sixth-round negotiations.

The first session of the sixth round of the six-party talks was held in Beijing from March 19 to 22, 2007.

 

The parties listened to reports by the five working groups, and conducted discussions on implementing the initial actions and an action plan for the next phase.

 

The parties agreed they will continue to advance the process of the six-party talks. The parties reaffirmed that they will faithfully carry out their commitments in the Joint Statement of September 19, 2005 and the Initial Actions for the Implementation of the Joint Statement of February 13, 2007.

 

The parties agreed to recess and will resume the talks at the earliest opportunity to continue to discuss and formulate an action plan for the next phase.
