A suicide bomber driving an explosive-laden car targeted a
convoy of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force
(ISAF) in Afghanistan's restive Helmand province Sunday, killing
himself and damaging a military vehicle, police said.
"It was 10:30 AM local time when the bomber blew his car up next
to the NATO convoy in Gereshk district, killing himself and
damaging an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) of the troops,"
provincial police chief Mohammad Hussain Andiwal told Xinhua.
However, he said there were no casualties on the ISAF side. Also
no civilians were killed or injured in the attack.
No group or individuals have claimed responsibility for the
attack, but Taliban militants who have staged a violent comeback
three years ago often carry out such attacks.
Over 5,700 people have been killed in violence and conflicts so
far this year in the war-torn Afghanistan.
