Adjust font size:

Explosives in a truck were detonated near a police center in Afghan capital Kabul Saturday morning, killing at least two civilians, a defense ministry spokesman said.

The blast, which occurred at around 8 AM (GMT0330), was a suicide car bomb, Mohammad Zahir Azimi, spokesman of the defense ministry, told Xinhua.

He confirmed two civilians were killed, saying more information will be released later.

The truck laden with dry fruit was parked near the Kabul police chief center.

Interior ministry officials said unknown persons have planted explosives in the vehicle and security personnel are working to defuse the remaining bomb in the vehicle.

No one or group has claimed responsibility yet.

The Afghan capital has seen several suicide blasts targeting foreign troops and Afghan national army and police over the past two months.
