Iran rules out nuke talks outside IAEA

Noting that Iran believed the issue of its nuclear activities became "normal," he stressed "Iran would hold talks with all countries for mutual cooperation based on justice and mutual respect."

"As a powerful country, Iran would talk to other countries about issues such as disarmament, global security and economy and preventing tensions," the president said.

Ahmadinejad also said that Iran attaches no importance to the latest UN Security Council resolution against Tehran and regards it as "illegal".

"We have always said any action against Iran's peaceful nuclear activities is politically-motivated and the stands taken by our enemies are irrelevant to nuclear issues and in fact they are opposed to Iran's development and progress," he said.

The UN Security Council resolution has no impacts on Iran but it has ruined the credibility of those voting for it, the president added.

The UN Security Council adopted a resolution on Monday slapping stronger sanctions to press Iran to suspend its uranium enrichment activities.

Fourteen of the 15 members of the Security Council voted for Resolution 1803 and Indonesia abstained.

The foreign ministers of Germany and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council later on Monday reaffirmed their commitment to a "dual-track approach" to addressing the Iranian nuclear issue.

The United States welcomed the resolution, saying it hopes it will make Iran change its behavior, including suspending its uranium enrichment activities.

Washington has accused Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons under the cover of a civilian nuclear program. Iran has denied the US charges and insisted that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.
