Unmanned plane crashes in Pakistan
Adjust font size:

A surveillance Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) crashed in Pakistan's tribal area on Tuesday night, an army statement confirmed Wednesday.

"A spokesman of ISPR said that a surveillance Unmanned Aerial Vehicle while flying over Pak-Afghan Border yesterday night crashed landed, on this side of the border at Jalal Village, closed to Angoor Adda in South Waziristan Agency, apparently due to mal-functioning," said the statement.

The wreckage of UAV has been recovered from the site by security forces personnel and the matter is under detailed investigation.

However, local media reports said a US drone was shot down by security forces and local tribesmen in South Waziristan Agency.

Pakistan has reported several missile attacks in its tribal areas launched by US drones, killing scores of people. The government has protested over the cross-border attacks strongly and vowed to protect its sovereignty.
