Jiang Yue'e, an ACWF official, said the ACWF stepped up efforts to assist National People's Congress in drafting the law and hopes to accelerate the legislative process. The federation has drafted a proposed version of the law that it hopes would provide a reference to legislators, she said. However, there is no timetable for the new law. |

According to a 2007 ACWF survey, domestic violence occurred in 30 percent of the 270 million families and over 85 percent of the victims were women. About 100,000 families break up each year as a result of domestic violence.
