A newly built primary school building in Weinan, Shaanxi Province, has turned into an auto dealership only two weeks after being put to use in May, 2010, forcing students to return to the old campus soon after, Xinhua reported.

The new Zhaocun Sir Shaw Run Run Primary School was partly funded by Shaw Run Run's donation, and was intended to improve student facilities from an old shabby campus, modified from a Buddhist temple.

The village authorities argued renting the premises to auto dealers just to pay off its construction fees, adding that the new school was on a busy traffic intersection, and the return was "for the children's own safety."

The district authorities have demanded the new campus resume its original purposes, but did not provide a deadline.

据新华社报道，陕西渭南开发区一所小学新校园2010年5月落成之后短短两周，就变身成为汽车4S店，学生不得不返回原来的校舍学习至今。

新赵村逸夫小学部分由邵逸夫捐建，本意是让学生离开娘娘庙改建的小学，改善他们的条件。

村民监督委员会的说法是，将校舍租给车商是为了还清建筑费用，还说新校园周边交通复杂，搬回原校园是为了“孩子们自己的安全”。

开发区主管部门已责令恢复校舍的教育用途，但并未给出最后限期。
