On Tuesday, Georgia police defended their decision to handcuff and arrest a 6-year-old elementary school pupil after the school called to report a juvenile had assaulted a principal and was damaging school property, CNN reported.

The officer stated that he tried numerous times to calm the girl down, but she eventually ended up fighting with him.

"The child was then placed in handcuffs for her own safety," said Police Chief Dray Swicord.

However, her family said the police should not have been involved.

"I don't think she misbehaved to the point where she should have been taken to the police department," Johnson's aunt, Candace Ruff said.

警方拷走6岁顽童

       据美国有线新闻网报道，美国佐治亚州警方表示，本周二，一所学校报警称一名少年正袭击校长并损坏公物，随后他们出警，将这名6岁小学生戴上手铐带回警局。

       该名警官表示，他几度试图安抚这名女孩，但最终小孩开始打他。

       德雷·斯维库德警长说：“她被戴上手铐是为了保证她的安全。”

       但是女孩家长认为警方不应介入此事。

       其姑母坎迪斯·鲁夫说：“我认为，她再顽皮也不至于到了把她带回警局的地步吧。”
