A drunk man blocked the woman's car on the road and bit her face on June 29.

The man who gnawed at a woman's face last month in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province was probably under the influence of alcohol, according to the doctor who examined him.

The man, surnamed Dong, blocked the woman's car on the road and bit her face on June 29.

The doctor said he was likely suffering a complicated intoxication syndrome.

That syndrome may make him very aggressive and totally unconscious of his behavior, said Guo Hanfeng, director of the mental health department of a Wenzhou hospital.

Dong was in a comma for seven hours after he was caught.

He told the police that he could not remember anything about the assault after he woke up. The only thing he remembered was that he had a lot of alcohol with his friends at lunch that day.

"Dong's urine test showed that he didn't take any drug," a police officer told Wenzhou City News.

Relatives of the victim, surnamed Du, said she had had a surgery to repair her lips and nose but had to undergo another plastic surgery.
