A 90-year-old lady from America who returned to her native China
to live won a charity award in east China's Shandong Province on Thursday.
Eunice Brock, former dean of a children's hospital in Denver,
Colorado, donated more than 300,000 yuan (US$38,462) of her savings
to buy computers for schools in Liaocheng City, build roads and
plant trees.
Brock was born in China and spent her early days in China where
her parents worked as Christian missionaries.
She left China in 1930 but, after her husband passed away,
returned to Shandong to live permanently in 1999. She lives in
Liumiao Village in Yanggu County, Liaocheng City.
"Being able to come back to China and spend my last days here is
wonderful for me", said Brock when she accepted the award on
Thursday.
Brock is the only foreigner to receive the award sponsored by
Shandong Business Daily, Qilu TV Station and Bailing
website.
Wang Yuqing, Brock's translator, helps her in her daily life.
Brock's two sons and two daughters support her and often fly to
China to see her.
