Tibetan New Year Celebrated in Beijing
Adjust font size:

This year, the Spring Festival and the Tibetan New Year's Day both fall on the same day -- February 18. So this week, Tibetans living in Beijing held a party to mark the occasion.

The gathering at the Tibetan Culture Center of China was attended by more than three hundred people, who enjoyed the food, drink, and entertainment from their home region.

In 2006, the Tibetan economy saw unprecedented growth. And largely thanks to the launch of Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the local tourist industry saw revenues increase by 40 percent.
