Now you can shop the latest catwalk fashion spotted at the recent Shanghai International Fashion Culture Festival. Emerging young designers who launched their autumn/winter collections at the festive are displaying their works at the trendy LOFT fashion hub throughout the month.
Selected fashions will be presented on the weekend in the atrium of the shopping complex. Most of the clothes are exactly what the models wore, but if you need another size or alteration, ask the designer for special tailoring.
"I always encourage customers to join the design process with me, to enjoy the 'made-to-measure' lifestyle," says designer Keeven Zhai.
His collection has already been shown. More than 20 outfits were sold in three days. Zhai's designs usually cost between 1,000 yuan (US$143) and 3,000 yuan. "It offered a great opportunity for my clients who were not able to attend my show to check out the collection," he says.
Zhai operates a studio on the fourth floor, but it is surrounded by similar shops and is easily overlooked.
Designer Chen Xunlei also showed his fashions at the festival. His clothes will be on display from May 16 to May 18.
Inspired by a trip to Barcelona, Chen's autumn/winter collection is comprised of jackets, coats, pants and skirts made of variously treated leathers, featuring a tough feel but a soft touch.
At the intersection of Jiashan Road and Jianguo Road W., LOFT was opened late last year to provide a novel shopping experience. The nine-story building is a collection of stores opened by Shanghai's most active fashion designers and experienced buyers.
