Guo Wen, a wheelchair-bound 58-year-old man, paved a road by carrying stones in a basin, winning appreciation from his neighbors in the process.

He was bedridden after an accident at age six and spent his childhood on bed, taught by his sisters. He went on to study medicine and used injections to cure himself enough to sit up.

He constructed his own special car in 1980, using scraps of bicycle parts. In the following years, he began inventing things, among which a latex respirator and three other inventions have been patented.
