A city district in east China's Jiangsu Province plans to select 100 recent college graduates over the next five years to work in local communities nationwide to inject new blood into its subdistricts.

The Qinghe District in Huai'an city, north of Jiangsu Province, will pick 36 graduates this year to work in various community offices and help handle various community affairs, according to information provided by the district government at a press conference on September 18.

Local government officials said they seek healthy participants over 28 who have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and political caliber. They said they would select program participants in a fair and organized manner.

The district put the program in place to improve the administration of and services in areas where local community offices with aging management personnel have difficulties meeting a growing demand for services by younger urban residents.

Those selected for the program will be subject to the district's institutional salary system and receive priority placement if they want to apply for higher positions in the areas in which they work in the future.

The district will employ a total of 100 graduates nationwide for its community work program during the next five years.
